Welcome to The Bull’s Eye
Hi, I’m Eirik Bull. I’m a film journalist and a Golden Globes voter, and occasional jury member at international film festivals. My perspective on cinema is built on a path that started in film and TV production before I moved into journalism and marketing. Today, I’m bringing those two sides of my background together.
Back to the Craft
It all started with a worn-out Star Wars VHS. While other kids wanted to be firefighters, I wanted to understand how those worlds were actually built. That early drive led me into production, and later, into my work as a critic and voter.
Recently, I’ve returned to the technical side of the industry by training as a colorist in DaVinci Resolve. Studying the science of the image and the behavior of light has fundamentally changed how I watch movies.
It’s given me a much sharper, more practical lens through which to view the films and television series I cover and write about, and for my considerations in the Golden Globes.
What You’ll Find Here
At The Bull’s Eye, I want to bridge the gap between the audience and the technical creator. Expect:
Analysis with Technical Teeth: Reviews that look past the surface to explore how cinematography and color choices actually drive the story.
Conversations with Creators: Insights from my work with the Golden Globes, featuring interviews with the people shaping modern cinema.
The Art of the Look: I’ll be sharing what I learn about the grading process and interviewing the colorists whose work defines the visual language of film today.
Subscribe today, and let’s geek out about film, TV, and gaming together.
