I’m still digesting, having only watched it today. Some of it felt a little dull to me, somehow missing the pop of some other marvel films. I’m not talking about the biggies but somehow, something was missing. What was great was/is Anthony Mackie. I was a big fan of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and I think this did a wonderful job of bringing the new Captain America to the screen.

I agree that Esposito was under-utilised. He has such a great screen presence that was somehow lacking in the peripheral characters. His fight with Anthony Mackie had something special that some others didn’t. I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him, though!

It wasn’t great but it was definitely well timed 😁 and I think it did a good job of setting up the future of The Avengers and Captain America.

One big gripe; stop shooting a hulk!!! It will only make him more angry. 😂 You’d think they’d learned that lesson by now.

Good review Eirik. Thank you 😊

Thank you. 😊

I agree with you on these points. I thought it was a fine enough MCU film, but still, the franchise seems to be struggling to reach past glories after Endgame. There are one or two exceptions, of course. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in my opinion perhaps the best of all the MCU films.

Will be interesting to see where the franchise goes from here.

I will continue watching as I still love the characters. I’m quite looking forward to Thunderbolts because it’s comedic and Florence Pugh’s character has been wonderful.

I just haven't felt the same magic from the MCU since Endgame. Some of that comes down to the movies. Some, I'm sure, comes down to me. My appetite for CGI spectacle is fading.

I understand what you mean. Endgame was spectacular, and I think the post-Endgame era in the MCU has more to do with the quality of that film (and Infinity War) than the quality of the later films. Sure, some post-Engame films are amazing, such as Gunn's epic mic drop to Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (one of the best MCU films ever in my opinion), but most are more forgettable "another Tuesday in the Marvel universe"...

I liked Guardians 3 a lot more than 2, but the first will always be my favorite. I watched it in a cinema on a rainy day in Copenhagen and the entire audience was loving it.

I watched it at a press screening in Oslo, in a huge cinema with only a handful of other journalists.

Which was lucky. I think I cried half of the runtime. I love animals and I absolutely hate animal cruelty, so James Gunn got to me in this film. 🥹
